The Pamlico Rural Tourism Council announces the Pamlico Paddle for 2008 with a paddle set for Spring Creek on October 18. The paddle will explore some of the county's remote waters - with courses designed for both beginning and advanced paddlers.
2008 Paddle Organizer Karen Prince says Spring Creek is the most pristine place she’s seen in Pamlico County, with pocosin, native pine and oaks, wild flowers and waterfoul impoundment areas.
The start time on October 18 is 10 am at a place called Alice, on the Bay River. There are three trails — a 4 mile beginner, a 5.5 mile intermediate and a 7.5 mile advanced. Registration fee is $35 and for that you’ll get a map, t-shirt and box lunch. Volunteers will help unload and load kayaks and canoes and help with the launching.
The 2008 Pamlico Paddle registration
form is available online - click here to download.
A release waiver must also be signed (they are standard forms used by the American Canoe Association):
Please Note: at the top of both standard waiver forms are membership type boxes to be checked. Unless you are currently an ACA member (in which case you should check the first box), please choose the box designating your desire for an, "ACA Event Membership for $5". This $5 event membership is covered by your Pamlico Paddle registration fee.
You will be able to pick up your paddle information and t-shirt on the morning of the paddle.
All
